What Is Free and What Is Paid

There are four distinct viewing tiers: guest, free account, Pro-in-your-region, and Pro-outside-your-region. Composites are the only thing every tier gets: everything else, and how current the composite is, depends on which of the four you're in.

Guest

Browsing without signing in, you can see the map, every layer, and all 38 regions, but daily composites are held back more than 48 hours. That's enough to see a general pattern, not enough to know what's happening today. Satellite passes, buoys, and alerts aren't available as a guest at all.

Free account

Signing up for a free account (no card required) removes the 48-hour delay entirely: composites become fully current, updated as soon as each day's data is published. Satellite passes, buoys, and alerts still require Pro.

Pro, inside your region

A Pro plan covers one region, two regions, or worldwide (all 38). See pricing for exact rates. Inside the region(s) your plan covers, Pro unlocks raw satellite passes, buoy readings, and alerts, on top of the always-current composite. New sign-ups with no prior subscription get a 14-day free trial; you won't be charged if you cancel before it ends. Anyone with a prior subscription of any status is charged immediately instead.

Pro, outside your region

Outside the region(s) your plan covers, a Pro account sees exactly what a free account sees: the current composite, no passes, no buoys, no alerts. If you're on a one- or two-region plan, you can swap your region(s) from the account drawer: unlimited while trialing, once every 60 days after your first charge, without changing your renewal date. See using the timeline and passes vs. composites for what you're missing without Pro coverage in a region, or check whether the Florida Keys or another region is already on your plan.

Managing or canceling your plan

Open the account menu → Billing → "Manage subscription" to update payment details, change plans, or cancel through Stripe's billing portal at any time. See how to use Chlorofishy for the rest of the account drawer's controls.
