Setting a Default Source and Region

Your default source and region live in the account drawer's Preferences section. Here's exactly what each one changes, when it takes effect, and how geolocation and your last camera position interact.

Where do I set a default source or region?

Open the account menu → Preferences. "Default source" picks between All Composites and All Satellites; "Default region" picks a starting region. Both carry a note that they apply the next time you open Chlorofishy, not to your current session.

What does "default source" actually control?

It sets what loads on your next visit, and it applies to both panes if you're in compare mode, there's one shared default, not one per pane. It doesn't retroactively change what's currently on screen; switching the source dropdown while you're browsing is a separate, session-only choice.

Does setting a default region skip geolocation?

Your last camera position (pan and zoom) is always restored on return, regardless of any default region setting. Geolocation only ever affects which region gets preselected, and only on a first visit, before you have a saved region of your own. Once you have a default region set, or you've simply used the map before, geolocation isn't consulted.

What happens when I switch regions on the map itself?

Clicking a region outline reframes the camera to that region's bounds, keeps your currently selected source, and, if you're signed in, saves the new region to your account so it's remembered on other devices too. This is separate from the "default region" preference above: switching on the map updates where you'll land next time automatically, without needing to open Preferences at all.

Do these settings change what data I'm entitled to?
